Craigslist Account Fixes

Craigslist is a phenomenal way to get traffic and leads, but if you find your results have suddenly gone from great to next-to-nothing, it’s likely your account has been flagged.  This typically occurs when your posts have been flagged numerous times by multiple Craigslist users.

If you have a Craigslist Account that has been shut down or is being “ghosted”, here are the steps you can take to open a new “clean” account.

There are 3 pieces of information that MUST ALL BE DIFFERENT from your other Craigslist account(s)

  1. Your IP Address
  2. Your telephone number
  3. Your email address
Step 1:   Clear all cookies from your computer
 Clear Your Browser’s Cookies
Step 2:  Change your IP Address
Change your IP Address
If you cannot change your IP Address from your router, create a new router!
Yes, there is now free software available to turn your cell phone into a “router”.  Check out Foxfi to learn how to make your cell phone a router (i.e., Hotspot).
Step 3:  Open a new browser that you have never used for posting on Craigslist.
You can choose from several –

Internet Explorer
Mozilla Firefox
Google Chrome
Safari (for Mac or PC)
Opera

Step 4:  Open a new Gmail account (using your new browser window)

Step 5:  Once you have your new Gmail account AND while you are in the new browser window – Go to Craigslist and open a new account.
***Remember you must do everything with Craigslist in this new browser window FOREVER going forward.  If you accidentally visit Craigslist using a browser that contains your old Craigslist cookies, you risk Craigslist’s system “remembering” your old flagged account.
Step 6:  Be as different as you can be in all respects from any Craigslist accounts that may have been previously flagged.
